WoW Forever Spinning Wheel: blueprint, patterns, camp
Where the WoW Forever Spinning Wheel blueprint drops, how to make and place the wheel, and the 74 tailoring patterns that need one, BiS caster cloth at 30 among them.
The Spinning Wheel blueprint drops from Unstable Sentinel in City of Dalaran, the level 28 to 33 dungeon that opened on the beta on 8 October. With Tailoring 140 you learn it, make the wheel and set it up at a campfire. You need one: 74 tailoring patterns can only be made next to a Spinning Wheel, including the cloth leggings and slippers that fill 21 top slots on 14 of the BiS lists at level 30.
The Codex's pages follow the beta client as it changes. This post is a snapshot from 9 October.
Where the Spinning Wheel blueprint drops
Unstable Sentinel is the fifth boss of City of Dalaran. In the first days of runs it dropped the blueprint about once in eleven kills[1], so plan on a few runs.
Tailors looked for it for days before that. On Wowhead they wrote that they had watched the auction house and asked around without finding one, and one guessed on 6 October that it would come from Dalaran, "which isnt out yet". On 8 October, the night the dungeon opened, the same player wrote "yeah it drops in dalaran", and early the next day another named Unstable Sentinel[2].

What you make from it, with Tailoring 140
How to make and place a Spinning Wheel
- Learn the blueprint. It needs Tailoring 140.
- Make the wheel from 2 Simple Wood, 5 Bolts of Silk Cloth and 3 Fine Thread. It also needs Tailoring 140 to use.
- Light a campfire. Anyone with Cooking can build a Basic Campfire, which holds up to three camp features. Cooks with the Journeyman or Expert Campfire make room for five or ten.
- Set the wheel down near the fire. If you already have a Faction Banner there, you can put the wheel on top of it. The wheel keeps the banner's Spirit buff for everyone sitting nearby.
Every camp feature shares one cooldown of an hour, so a tailor places one thing per hour. A campfire itself has a five minute cooldown. Players who sit or craft near the fire for a minute get the buffs of every feature around it.
The gear you can only make at a wheel
The Spinning Wheel's tooltip says it "allows the creation of certain reagents", and most camping guides repeat that. The game client says something else: it lists a Spinning Wheel nearby as a requirement for 74 tailoring patterns, and none of them make a reagent. Classic's client asks for a wheel on none of them.
54 of the 74 are new in Forever. They come in nine families of six: Leggings, Slippers, Handwraps, Cord, Shoulders, Cuffs, Waistcord, Gloves and Sandals, learned from Tailoring 125 to 235. All of them are rare cloth for casters, and in each family the six pieces share their stats except one line, set by one reagent:
| Adds | Reagent | Named |
|---|---|---|
| Healing | Gold Bar | Gilded, Nethergeld, Pristine |
| Holy damage | Large Radiant Shard | Radiant, Netherlight, Shining |
| Arcane damage | Golden Pearl | Golden, Nethershine, Pearly |
| Fire damage | Heart of Fire | Fiery, Netherflame, Flame |
| Frost damage | Globe of Water | Frothing, Netherfroth, Silky |
| Shadow damage | Black Pearl | Black, Netherpearl, Shadow |
The last name in each row is the Leggings, which take other reagents for the same six schools: Pristine Leather for healing, Pyrite for Holy, Small Lustrous Pearls for Arcane, Fire Oil for Fire, Spider's Silk for Frost and Shadowgems for Shadow.
At level 30: leggings and slippers
Only two families can be worn at the beta's level cap. The Leggings need level 25 and the Slippers level 30, and between them they fill 21 top slots on 14 of our BiS at 30 lists:
- Healers (Discipline and Holy priests, Restoration shamans) take Pristine Leggings. Gilded Slippers are the feet for those three, Restoration druids, Holy paladins and Elemental shamans.
- Shadow priests and all three warlock specs take Black Slippers.
- Arcane mages and Balance druids take Pearly Leggings and Golden Slippers.
- Fire mages take Flame Leggings and Fiery Slippers, and Frost mages Silky Leggings and Frothing Slippers.

Feet for six specs, pattern source not known yet
They bind when picked up, so the tailor makes them for themselves. Every piece also needs dyes that only alchemists make: Cerulean Dye for both families, and Magenta Dye for the Slippers. If you level Tailoring for these, find an alchemist.
Where the patterns come from
35 of the 54 patterns are sold by two vendors, Jim'bek in the Barrens and Mivin Shadowweave in Redridge Mountains: the Leggings, five of the Handwraps, and the Shoulders, Cuffs, Waistcord and Sandals. The Leggings patterns cost 31 silver 25 copper each. The other 19, the Slippers, Cord and Gloves and the Gilded Handwraps, have no known source yet.
The Classic patterns that need it too
The other 20 are Classic patterns, and Forever added the wheel to each one. Among them are seven Mooncloth pieces, three Dreamweave pieces, Felcloth Gloves and the Felcloth Bag, Icy Cloak, Robe of Power, Robe of Winter Night, Cloak of Fire, Inferno Gloves, Cloak of Warding, Wisdom of the Timbermaw and Argent Boots. Most are for high level tailors, so the wheel matters long after level 30.
Tailoring's three camp features
The wheel sits in the middle of three tailoring camp features:
- Faction Banner, Tailoring 20: a Spirit buff for everyone of your faction sitting nearby, which does not stack with Divine Spirit. You learn it from the Camping 101: Tailoring quest in the starting zones, or from any tailoring trainer[3].
- Spinning Wheel, Tailoring 140: keeps the banner's buff and adds the 74 patterns above.
- Loom, Tailoring 300: keeps the banner's buff too. 43 high level patterns need it, from Flarecore to Robe of the Archmage. It is made from Bottled Screams, 4 Bolts of Runecloth and 4 Simple Wood, and its blueprint's source is not known yet.
What we don't know about the Spinning Wheel yet
- The 19 missing patterns. Nobody has reported where the Slippers, Cord and Gloves patterns come from. That includes the Slippers, the best feet on 14 BiS lists.
- Other players' wheels. We don't know yet whether every tailor at a camp can use one player's wheel, or only its owner.
- Wheels in cities. If a city has a Spinning Wheel to craft at, nobody has said so yet.
- The reagents. No pattern in this build makes a reagent at the wheel, whatever the tooltip says. That may come with a later build.
- The drop rate. One in eleven is from a few days of runs.
The tailoring page and the BiS lists follow the beta client, so check them before you buy a pattern.
