World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026. Raids unlock on December 9, 2026.

The raid comp planner set to Hyjal Summit, with twenty specs in four groups and the buff icons under each group

WoW Forever raid buffs, checked in the raid comp planner

The raid comp planner now follows Forever's own spellbook: party-wide buffs in their own column, 44 buffs and debuffs, and pairs where either class will do.

Forever changed a lot of raid buffs without much notice. Several that used to reach one group of five now cover the whole raid, two former talents are now in every priest's and paladin's spellbook, and a handful of numbers went up or down. We checked every buff and debuff in the raid comp planner against the spellbooks and talent trees of all nine classes, so a grey icon on your plan now means that nobody in the raid can cover it in Forever.

Party-wide buffs get their own column

Battle Shout, the totems, Trueshot Aura and the paladin auras only reach the caster's own group of five. The planner used to show them only as small icons under each group. They now have a column of their own in the summary, between the roles and the raid buffs, so you can read down one list and see which ones the raid has at all. Roles and classes share the first column to make room.

Hover a party buff and the tooltip tells you which groups it reaches. In this Hyjal Summit plan, with a shaman in each of the first three groups, Windfury Totem says "In groups 1, 2, 3", and group 4 goes without. A buff nobody brings says "In no group yet".

What Forever changed about raid buffs

The biggest change is reach. In Classic, Arcane Brilliance, Prayer of Fortitude and Gift of the Wild covered the target's party. In Forever their tooltips say "party and raid", so one cast buffs everyone, and Prayer of Spirit works the same way. The paladin Fire, Frost and Shadow Resistance Auras, the shaman resistance totems and the hunter's Aspect of the Wild now also reach the whole raid instead of one group. The planner shows those as Fire Resistance, Frost Resistance, Nature Resistance and Shadow Resistance Aura, under raid buffs.

Two buffs are no longer locked behind a talent. Divine Spirit was a Discipline talent in Classic[1] and Blessing of Kings a Protection talent[2]. Neither is in Forever's talent trees now, and both are in the spellbook, so every priest brings Divine Spirit and every paladin brings Kings. The planner used to count Divine Spirit only for Discipline priests; it now counts every priest.

Two debuffs went the other way. In Classic, Winter's Chill raised the chance of any Frost spell to crit the target, and Improved Scorch raised the Fire damage everyone dealt to it. Forever's versions only help the mage who applies them ("your Ice Lance and Frostbolt", "all Fire damage you deal"), so they are no longer raid debuffs and have left the planner.

The numbers moved as well. These are the highest ranks, as the spellbook pages show them:

SpellClassicForever
Battle Shout232 attack power for 2 min139 melee attack power for 3 min
Trueshot Aura100 attack power50 ranged attack power
Power Word: Fortitude54 Stamina for 30 min70 Stamina for 1 hour
Blessing of Might185 attack power for 5 min133 melee attack power for 1 hour
Hunter's Mark110 ranged attack power71 ranged attack power
Curse of Recklessness640 armor, but the boss gains 90 attack power505 armor, no attack power for the boss
Expose Armor, 5 points1,700 armor2,250 armor
Demoralizing Shout146 attack power for 30 sec204 attack power for 45 sec
Thunder Clap10% slower attacks20% slower attacks

Every tooltip in the planner now quotes the Forever value, in all four of the site's languages.

New buffs and debuffs to plan around

Besides the four resistances, thirteen entries are new. On the party side: Grace of Air Totem, Flametongue Totem, Stoneskin Totem and Windwall Totem from any shaman, Mana Tide Totem from Restoration, Retribution and Concentration Aura from paladins, Blood Pact from a warlock's imp, Vampiric Embrace from Shadow priests, and Furious Howl from a hunter with a wolf. Windfury Totem now counts for every shaman too, since every shaman learns it from the trainer.

On the boss, Scorpid Sting and Insect Swarm each lower its chance to hit by 2%, and Judgement of the Crusader raises the Holy damage it takes. The tooltip for that one warns that a paladin keeps only one Judgement up, so it competes with Judgement of Wisdom.

The planner's summary for a full Hyjal Summit raid: roles, classes, party-wide buffs, raid buffs and debuffs
The full summary for the same 20 players. Every line is lit: this raid brings all nine classes, and the specs the talent buffs need.

Either one covers it

Some buffs and debuffs fill the same slot, and the planner now shows them as one line with "or". A warrior's Sunder Armor or a rogue's Expose Armor, a warrior's Demoralizing Shout or a druid's Demoralizing Roar: bring either class and the line lights up, and the tooltip lists everyone who brings one or the other. Leader of the Pack or Moonkin Aura works the same way, because Forever's tooltips say the two are exclusive.

Forever's tooltips do not say whether Sunder and Expose stack, or the shout and the roar. The planner counts each pair as one slot for now. If the beta shows that they stack, they get their own lines back.

One line for both armor debuffs: the warriors and the Combat rogue all count.

Also fixed

  • Tooltips near the right edge of the window opened past it and were cut off. They now open to the left when there is no room.
  • Long buff names, such as Judgement of the Crusader, wrap onto a second line instead of ending in "…".
